About Us
Truth About Credit is a project of the U.S. PIRG Education Fund and the
Student PIRGs (Public Interest Research Groups). U.S. PIRG works
to pursue a mission of standing up to powerful interests on behalf of the
public. U.S. PIRG conducts research,
education and advocacy on behalf of consumers.
With the help of a professional staff of
advocates and organizers, the Student PIRGs investigate problems and develop
practical solutions, and convince the media and decision-makers to pay
attention and take action on consumer protection and higher education issues.
U.S. PIRG and the Student PIRGs are proud to work with an expert advisory
panel for this effort. Among its members are: Americans for
Fairness In Lending Jim Campen, Executive Director Kirsten O'Keefe, Founding Executive Director Consumer Federation of America Stephen Brobeck, Executive
Director Travis Plunkett, Legislative Director Consumers Union Norma Garcia, Senior Attorney Demos Tamara Draut, Director of Economic Opportunity and author
of the book, Strapped: Why America’s
20- and 30-Somethings Can’t get Ahead
This
effort is funded by the Ford Foundation. The Ford Foundation is a resource for
innovative people and institutions worldwide.
